Modern Group's Health, Safety, and Environmental management team, in cooperation with the administration department, ensure all employees comply with government HSE policies and those drafted within the group. Additionally, the HSE department implements, coordinates, and evaluates training programs targeted to reduce injuries and accidents in the workplace. Modern Group environmental policies are integral to implementing environmental management systems and identifying eco-threats to soil, water, air, and life. Modern Group workshops process hot-rolled steel into structural steel, which involves fabrication, welding, cleaning, painting, and packing of finished steel products. Shown here are steps we take to reduce our impact on the environment.

Aside from random government air quality checks, Modern Group uses a photoionization detector (PID) that has an extended detection range from 0-15,000 ppm to detect and measure VOCs & ionizable chemicals in the air.

Modern Group facilities include security controlled deep-foundation paint, solvent, oil, & chemical storage units.

Flammable liquids are stored on shelves or pallets in rooms equipped with heat sensors, flame detectors, and alarm systems.

Empty containers are accounted for, stacked and palletized prior to removal by disposal contractors.

Can crushing equipment is used to reduce the volume of space required to dispatch empty cans.

Aerosol paints and chemicals are separated due to being sealed & pressurized containers, to be disposed of properly.

Flammable liquid & chemical storage equipped with automatic fire suppression, foam systems, & dry chemical extinguishers.

HSE Managers provide fire safety training to office staff and factory workers.

Installed hose and reel systems are used to delploy fire-fighting foam against flammable liquids, and standard fire hoses are installed throughout all spaces to fight Class "A" fires.

Class A, B, C, dry powder extinguishers are distributed through all office and workshop spaces.

Modern Group facilities have above-ground and below-ground water reservoirs to supplement emergency firefighting capacity.

Gas cylinder cascade supply is caged and safe, as opposed to loose bottles to prevent accidents.

Welding gases are secured in store rooms and supply operators through piped manifold systems, significantly reducing the need for individual tanks.

Gas store rooms are locked and labeled with appropriate precaution tags.

Air & gas disttribution manifolds eliminate thousands of loose bottles in the shop every year, making welding safer and reducing potential gas leaks.

Portable cascade used for stainless steel welding is stable and reduces handling of welding bottles and fitting changes.

Numerous track-mounted accordion rooms create sealed painting areas that can be heated and dehumidified to control optimum painting environments.

Because the rooms are mobile, steel handling is less, making the process safer and more efficient.

Painting fumes and vapors (VOCs) are directly extracted from the painting rooms and processed outside the workshops. The VOC processing reduces pollutants and allows our facilities to comply with this part of environmental policies.

Painting rooms illuminated 24 hours per day utilize super-efficient L.E.D. lighting, which reduces electric consumption by 75% compared to similar brightness incandescent bulbs.

After the rooms are rolled away, resident inspectors, QC staff and paiting operators perform various checks and inspections.

Modern Group utilizes steel-enclosed switchgear and distribution equipment to ensure stable workshop power. Technicians monitor and record daytime and nighttime electrical use to optimize consumption during work shifts.

Our workshop ceilings and walls contain translucent light panels, which eliminate the need for lighting in most areas in the daytime. The installed fluorescent ceiling lights use 35% less energy than incandescent lighting, and LED lighting is replacing the older systems.

Windows and walls emitting light through translucent light panels help the work shops to stay bright and save electricity costs.

Office printing paper is printed on both sides, or not printed at all. Waste paper and all cardboard box materials are recycled.

Used steel shot and particles from shot blasting operations are collected and recycled into new materials.
